Raku Dunny Day and Night by Huck Gee x Kidrobot (May 26 release)
PRODUCT-STORY: By day, Huck Gee's Raku travels the Japanese countryside helping others. Transformed by night's ominous gloom, now-furtive Raku infiltrates sleeping villages and becomes a spreader of wealth - a Japanese Robin Hood. Daylight's cloth-robed Raku wears detachable peasant sandals and plastic bamboo peasant hat, and comes with a sculpted tail, coiled rope and bedroll, and a walking staff. Hidden but not forgotten under the bedroll are the outward signs of deeper scars - painful reminders of Raku's battles. Skulking the darkness, the night ninja trades his hat for a wind-whipped mask and adds a pair of claws and formidable blade to his lethal arsenal.
Kidrobot announces the DAY & NIGHT RAKU DUNNY from Huck Gee. Standing 8 inches tall (probably sans the height if the sandals :p) and primed for a release on May 26th - there are two versions to be had: Red and Black. The Red Raku is a Kidrobot exclusive, sold only online and at Kidrobot stores. The Black Raku is available only at specialty retailers. Limited to 500 of each design - the Day & Night Raku Dunnys are priced at US$100 each.
Creator Huck Gee will be at Kidrobot San Francisco and Kidrobot New York for a signing tour to support the release. This is one of the finest series I have seen from KR thus far - probably because I am a sucker for vinyls wearing fabric, and these look like "custom pieces" which Huck regularly produces by himself (and are out of reach for casual collectors, price-wise anyways), and unlike a "standard" production release from Kidrobot. Kudos all around!
