Exclusive STGCC Mico Suayan Sketchbook

5 minutes pass the closing time of 8pm on Day One of STGCC, artist extraordinaire Mico Suayan was still doodling the cover of my sketchbook (or rather his STGCC exclusive release sketchbook) on the variant cover of, where a blank page awaits his intensive pencils. But alas as the time was intensively short (*Closing Time"~ hello?) I in turn agreed to a "simplified" drawing, while starring at yet another intense uncompleted drawing of a Juggernaut on a commissioned cover for another lucky soul, but i shall be grateful instead (thanks for ALwyn of Elseworlds for da-support bro!). I had opted for a Catwoman, because frankly I had been geek-appalled that the movie version will not get her kitty-ears or even proper googles (*le-gasp*), and I can safely say the cover is pretty swell, isn't it?

Two covers were made available at STGCC, one is the sepia-hued cover, which actually sat beneath the variant cover over the existing sketchbook, but you will not see the difference, as the quality of the book put together was immaculate. As were the pages within - showcasing both his sequential panel work - which frankly I could do without - because his pencils alone for Marvel Comics covers, are intensely amazing. The interior pages were fueled with grey tones and decently thick paper-stock - well appreciated from where I am at. Kudos for that!

Shown above in the slideshow are just select snapshots of his work, which frankly needs to be seen in person, and hell be made as multiple prints, if Marvel could let that happen, that is. There is simply no need for hyperbole on my part - the artwork speaks for itself. A week after STGCC has ended, and yet I am gawking still at the images, and as well appreciate the graciousness of the artist - after no doubt an intensely hard day "at work", he still took the trouble to smile at me and shake my hands. Kudos for that, dude = Rock On!

We've previously previewed interior page art before and as well posted about the Elseworld's booth at STGCC. As well check out Mico's deviantART. Folks interested in scoring the sketchbook locally in Singapore can email 8bitmedia1@gmail.com for enquiries.
