WHAT: "In 2009, I visited Bandung, Indonesia and have been thinking about returning ever since (true story). And while I've featured on the blog some spots I'd visited then, it was not "complete" … this series of feature posts will address that, for today's #throwbackthursday!"

Tucked in the basement @ Jl Sunda no 39A, Bandung, Indonesia, is a nondescript toyshop named ZERO Toys (known as "Zero Toys Exchange" back in 2009), offering vintage toys, with the space also housing a "Toy Museum"! Visiting this spot in 2009 was truly mind-blowing and heartwarmingly splendid, and regrettably I've not posted much about this place, until now … Do bare in mind things not doubt has changed since the past 8 years (*GASP*), and I've since met the owner Aldo Khalid twice - first in '09 (when we chatted about kitbashing 1/6th figures and OSW for a good couple of hours LOL), and years later for when he and a band of fans organized Star Wars Day Jakarta in 2013! (Star Wars Day Bandung was a year prior!)

Personally to me, there is a very thin line between a "collector" and a "retailer", and Aldo is definitely a collector who knows his toys, IMHO! Check out his Instagram @godoftoy for his geekery (I do!).

Posted here are select images of both the shop/store (alas I have since had tons of images corrupted and lost :/), and of the personal toy museum (FREE admittance then), with much more uploaded HERE on FB! Make sure you make your way there when next you're in Bandung, and check out the store's Facebook page!

The "underground gallery" / toys museum (which Aldo calls a "museum mainan 80an") was spit into two areas - from vintage tin toys, to Macross mechas and giant robots at the basement level, to the predominantly 80s'-themed toys situated in another room a staircase above, with shells filled with boxed and loose figures, to diorama displays featuring He-Man and The Masters of the Universe, G.I. Joe and Silverhawk etc … perhaps I'd need to revisit Bandung again real soon to take new pics, with a MUCH better camera this time, of course! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA :)
