MAKING MANJUSAGI:

Be one with the strawberry!!! Work in progress - Valentine's Day Special Manjūsagi Strawberry Parfait 🍓❤️🍓 This step is about layering. I let each layer dry before proceeding to the next step, mainly because the cream is very vulnerable to overmanipulation. The weather doesn't help either - if it's too hot, the cream won't hold. So I've been putting it into the fridge for a little bit so it keeps its form as it dries. Brisbane is very humid currently. That's why I placed a small stick in the centre to help support the weight of the manjū. Furthermore, chocolate sauce is not very forgiving. You've got one chance to drizzle it on right, and let me tell you, if it falls wrong - you're stuffed. I have many a chocolate manjū in the graveyard that didn't make the cut. Hahaha this is the first time I've really talked about the process is. It sounds very cumbersome, doesn't it?! #manjūsagi #sofubi #tamiyadecorationseries #tamiyacream #tamiyasauce #tamiya #strawberryparfait #valentinesday2019 #tovitips

How to make a manjūsagi strawberry parfait step 3: Adding the flourishes! This is about 90% done. You can be quite creative when it comes to adding superfluous things to bulk up a piece. I have a good collection of cabochons - the hard part is choosing what goes with what. A lot of the time, I will choose a design based on the cabochons I have and work around that. Here we have a heart waffle and some sticks which I decorated with a bit of chocolate sauce. Make sure you do the cabochon decorating separately and leave them to cure for a good day or two before putting it all together. It's annoying trying to hold it all in place as the glue bonds. I use a two part epoxy glue that dries clear. It's strong, but you have to hold it in place until it hardens- which usually is at least 5 minutes. Annoying thing is that you can only glue one thing at a time, by the time the glue hardens, you can't reuse the rest of the mix. So I try to squeeze out a tiny bit for mixing at any one time. #manjūsagi #sofubi #softvinyltoy #strawberryparfait #strawberry #parfait #tamiya #tovitips
