The (toy)story begins in 2003, where "Flake" was hand-sculpted by Mark and never sold or released, remaining in the coarse vault for 20 years. To celebrate two decades of vinyl storytelling coarse will be releasing this bust for the very first time in three unique editions: PAIN, LOSER & WALNUT.

STORYTIME: It was 2003. Mark (Landwehr) was living in a photo studio in northern Germany. The winter was dark and cold, his job was wearing him down, and he needed an escape. Sculpting the surf and skate culture of Southern California was only meant to be a hobby, but a collaboration with the streetwear brand Vans put our sculptures in stores around the world. Accidentally, coarse was born.
Flake embodies what it means to stand up after life has pushed you down, returning bolder and more resilient each time. Life always finds a way to knock you down. So be ready to fall. But be made to rise up.
