THE SELF: Motivation & Creation = Actualization
With Freudian-like box headed representations of the self, the second exhibition explores our desires. Freeing themselves from the constraints of modern society, the characters instead follow a path of visionary self-actualization.
KEEPING UP WITH THE JONESES
Exploring themes of productivity, motivation and self-realisation, Matt Jones, aka Lunartik, brings two exhibitions of conceptual art, designer toys and paintings to Birmingham City University (BIAD) – from which he graduated in 1999.Returning to the site of where his artistry was first formally harnessed, fits beautifully with the introspective themes of the two shows. As a multi-discipline designer with clients ranging from blue-chips to start-ups, the work also asks questions of the balance between commercial and personal artistry.
