madl citizens: paintwork customs (@ lift detroit oct 25)

As of this post, the MADL CITIZENS group custom show [tagged] is underway @ LiFT, Detroit (circa October 25th / Exhibits thru November 22nd) and perhaps this post is a week too late (that's how long it stayed in my folders :p) - but NO, I'm not going to let these pics (and effort) go to waste!

/// CLICK THRU to peek a selection of primarily PAINTWORK-based MADL customs / and CLICK for another post featuring FORM MANIPULATION-based customs (you see? I had too much pics stored, I hadda split them up LOL). Customs have also been listed online for your procurement pleasures HERE :)

[Note: Some images have been white-balanced and brightened for posting. Apologies if the color is inaccurate, dear artists]

I don't know how Ryan Crippen (aka Reactor88) does it, but his work is always uber-crisp and clean+smooth, it can only be deduced that Ryan is a custom-precision-machine and breathes paint-masking, as evident in this TOTEM MADL. (Ryan had sent in these pics much earlier but I'd managed not to post them in a timely fashion - sorry, dude!)

Im liking the linework for FAS's MADL - looking like a comicbook character in manic-motion, IMHO. [peep original pics here]

The angry ape with an overbite sporting a crispyclean Y-front aptly dubbed BITE ME comes courtesy of Patrick Francisco and there be hella loads more angry-apes of various sizes and shapes to be found on his flickr!

Seeing Tan-Ki's custom-MADL reminds me of reading Charles Burns' comics or even Daniel Clowes' Eightball somewhat, like 90's era nightmares made for compelling and hypnotic viewing - and I likes it. [more views here]

Monsterdecay's THE GRAVEDIGGER comes complete with it's own graveyard/tomb dio, and adds a heap-full of Halloween-flavor to the show, IMHO. [large pics here]

Effective eye-poppin' colors and design for KaNO's custom-MADL. The cap and backpack details are tres cool, as is the earphones-icon :)

Lou Pimentel's STREET REPRESENTATIVE enquires if you need "gunz, stolen gear, maybe a lil weed?" One of the nicest+cleaner paintwork seen for this show thus far, IMHO.

Kathie Olivas + MADL-custom = 'nuff said.

Tis another brand new custom with Brent Nolasco's A NEW DAY MADL-custom (sorry, could'nt resist the pun) with more disemboweled entities flitting around in the acidyellow spectrum [more pics here]

Now, what I think is exceptional about "reganomics813" END GAME custom is - besides the sweet imagery and concept - was that he was initially not on the Invite-Only artist-list, but went ahead with his custom, to show commitment and to secure a place, which he did. Cool beans. Check out his work-in-progress here.
