Our Hero Apprentice In Color by Justin Rudy of DynomightNYC
We've thus fa seen the shape and form of DynomightNYC's OUR HERO APPRENTICE figure [tagged]. Designed by Justin Rudy and sculpted by Pretty In Plastic. Now here's a chance to see it in color! CLICK THRU for an exclusive first-peek at the project so far, along with a lil Q&A with Justin, about why the figure looks like "MegaMan"!
TOYSREVIL: I've been reading and receiving a fair amount of feedback on the figure, stating that it's a MegaMan-lift ~ what comment/s do you have for that?
JUSTIN RUDY: Yeah I have heard the same MegaMan comment. And I'm glad it does. That's the point. The game was a HUGE influence in my life. The OHA character is an iconic homage to my influences. If you look at him there are four major influences in the APPRENTICE piece. (1) Pixar/Disney animation, (2) Classic 50's Sci-Fi, (3) The golden era of Capcom and (4) Marvel Comics...
TOYSREVIL: Swell combo of influences, IMHO!
JUSTIN RUDY: Then again, if you stick a blaster on any characters arm (and a helmet) people automatically think MegaMan. And that's totally OK. Cuz without that game, many of today's titles and comics would never exist. I knew that this would probably be an issue for some. But my character is more Marvel superhero than anything else. Plus he rocks an awesome mask. LOL!
TOYSREVIL: Heck, I'm a huge fan of domino-masks myself! Is this the final colorway folks and fans are to expect for OHA?
JUSTIN RUDY: (This is) a VERY rough color test. This is his color palette to help me figure out what colors will go where. None of the variants will be blue. (For obvious fanboy reasons.) ;) LOL!
