Toy Review: COSMOS COLD from Kosrobot
And while I've previously only featured Kosrobot's COSMOS COLD figures on TOYSREVIL, this is the first time I've had the opportunity to hold them in my hands, and the result is TOY-LOVE! Featured here are some snaps and my impressions/reviews of the piece(s), but first: An Introduction to COSMOS COLD from Kosrobot!
"In a deep future or distant past... On a long forgotten space station, something terrible happened. Now this place belongs to ghosts, moaning and whispering, ensnaring space travelers, searching for the one to blame, the one to say to: this is all because of you!"
"The Blaming One was the crew commander of the Emerald Castle space station. Nothing really changed since then, except they're all dead now. He wonders the station in search for the one to blame."
"The Dreary One was the station's physician. Death was his biggest fear. Now he wanders the station, moaning and screaming, terrified by his fate, seeking for repose."
"The Horrid One was the station's signaller. It seems that after death he found peace of mind, something between apathy and psychosis. He talks to himself unintelligibly and makes strange sounds constantly."
Created+Designed, sculpted and cast by Konstantin Budkevich AKA Kosrobot from Moscow, Russia, the figures each stands 3 inches tall and is in 1/24th scale, featuring 3 points of articulation via magnetic joints (2 x shoulders and neck), coming in a resealable blister packaging.
The first online release on his online shop has since been Sold Out, and I was lucky to have the trio of character figures: THE BLAMING ONE, THE HORRID ONE and THE DREARY ONE - in the colors you see here (*courtesy of Konstantin XOXOXOX)
Let's take a closer look at THE DREARY ONE (in green), shall we?
The earlier incarnations where made of resin and stood 6-inches tall (First released circa 2015), while the latest incarnations are down-sized to 3" (Since 2017) and seem to be made from "rubber resin" (my assumption), which renders the figures themselves to be ever slightly "malleable" (*and by no means should you attempt too test said elasticity FFS LOL) and to be is a real boon, as I've hd a pretty bad personal record of dropping resin figures and cracking them into pieces, quite literally too (I blame my lack of dexterity on my Stroke :p)...
The sculpting and pull is immaculate - regardless "independent toy" or not, IMHO. The added features of magnets for joints in the arm(s) are pretty exceptional, with the finishing clean, and the resultant "articulation" a real joy to play and pose with! I could even swap out the coloured arms from the figures to attach to different bodies!
Besides the re-sizing, one exceptional difference I'd consider, was the usage of brighter colors for the pieces, giving it that flavour of cartoons, even wth macabre aesthetics of a "dead astronaut" - which makes it even more envigorating in the palette of the undead LOL
And what I really adored too about this figure series, is the new blister-carded packaging (Previous being bagged-and-tagged), which is not the current norm for "action figures", instead a slightly more petite package, hence somewhat a more "refreshing" notion for me, which adds to the allure of actually being able to open up and play with the figure, than the "need" to keep it MOC / "Mint-On-Card" ... and that fact that it is "Resealable", is a huge PLS in my humble toy-collecting books :)
The silver foil-styled sticker addition really help push this to the welcomed borders of professional mass-produced collectibles, IMHO.
Along with the trio of blister-carded figures, was what I felt was a yummy lush matt black envelope, covered with a shiny metallic gold sticker, when opened reveals 4 x diecut stickers of the characters! The illustrations used made me really wished it were a mini comic of cosmos cold characters instead, to further ingrain the lore of the characters, and that could even be used as a diorama backdrop for display too, IMHO. Yes, I am "greedy" like that LOL
Overall a overwhelmingly awesome product to be had, that pushes it's independent toy status out the window unto the gilded streets of toy-glory, IMHO! For only US$20 per figure (excluding shipping costs), I reckon it is a STEAL, and is a highly recommended purchase, much less an "original" designed/created character product - compared to mass market licensed toys *Which might actually cost MORE) ... and as far as I am concerned; an exceptional addition to the toy culture we all dwell in!

Cheers and have a fab Toy-Day!
