WHO-IS: Jimmy grew up in HK surrounded by toy culture his entire life. That led him to work in pop culture related industry. He worked in a toy shop, became an editor of the Shonen jump style magazine before moving on to events. He provided the concept for Indonesia Comic Con in 2015 and is currently involved in Indonesia Game Expo (IGX). He has painted over 300 Sodo Candy toys Kamen Rider since the pandemic and he hopes to publish a book or hold an exhibition for them…

TOP TOY OF 2024 - #10: LCDX Avengers Mech Strike Spiderman Mech
JIMMY YU: Whenever I’m in China, I always try to find a local flavored toy. To my surprise, this is a comic accurate design and licensed. It transforms into a fighter jet. I took this pic because i wanted to detail him up and repaint….maybe this year.
TOP TOY OF 2024 - #9: Sodo Chronicle Scissors and Volcancer
JIMMY YU: The Ryuki series is special to me. I’ve tried to complete the riders since it was shown in 2002 but never succeeded. I had the Gashapon but missed one, tried the SIC but they only released a few. Never even considered the mirror monsters due to space and cost but thanks to Sodo Candy toy, I finally completed the entire roster in 2024. Hopefully I can paint them all soon!

TOP TOY OF 2024 - #6: Japanese Transformers Animated Bumblebee
JIMMY YU: TFA is one of my favourite TF series, maybe because my love for Batman Animated is the seed that led to this. I have all the decepticons from Takara including the botcon figures. This Bumblebee? I found it in a local auction. It’s non transformable but I love the aesthetic and of course I can’t leave it as is…I just had to repaint it.

JIMMY YU: As my vintage Batman Animated series is more or less complete, I branched out to all the weird variants. They are usually super colorful but occasionally you get a weird batman in his OG color. This is a boxset exclusive so when i saw it loose, I wasted no time.

JIMMY YU: I got this kit in 2010. My mindset as a modeler back then was nothing can stay the same. I sharpened the spikes, wanted to add details and an original color. That’s how he ended up unfinished for 14 years.

JIMMY YU: This is from my trip to KL, first time checking out Amcorp. Super impressed by the toy culture, it has the old Clarke Quay flea market vibe. I found these in the clearance bin, the highlight of my trip.

JIMMY YU: This was a gift from Bandai during my Shanghai trip. I built him in Bandung during a family trip. To be honest, I’ve never seen Crayon Sinchan but always enjoyed the style. This is a parody of Kamen rider and Ultraman so i love it!
