Damaged Joker

In many ways I can understand the vitriol toward's Jared Leto's JOKER in David Ayers' Suicide Squad, even where people are unable to separate the actor from the role. I've always felt it was a decent depiction specific for the film, as hammy as it had been, admittedly so, even for a "comicbook"-movie LOL

But the ham was fun in this instance, making it apart from what folks expect from the comicbook versions, seen in celluloid incarnations like the late Ledger's in "Dark Knight Rises" and Nicholson's in "Batman", but amidst such a line-up, there'll be comparisons inevitably.

I've always felt that if they had included his signature "purple" in his clothing/jacket, folks might let that slide...? Instead they had him in purple surgical gloves in a fleeting scene ... :p

That said, I am "grateful" for this version, as I'd actually used the above image for one of my lessons in "Art Direction for Film" class, for a very simple "who Does What" session (ie: Which department is charge of the gloves? Who brings the electrical hand-charger? Who does the green hair? Etc). But perhaps the film was not as popular to the masses which had not watched it LOL

But is it "memorable" enough for me to keep the character as a "toy" in my own collection? Not really, as I am currently offering this Pop!Vinyl (2016 New York Comic-Con edition) up for grabs at my Miku Market table LOL

And while I do not actively collect "action figures" now, I would dare say the source does affect my purchasing/collecting decisions (*Case in point: Animes I adore, I will end up buying their action figures for MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA), having paused to consider getting James Gunn's characters from The Suicide Squad instead... Interestingly we have as many Suicide Squad projects (including Isekai anime etc), as new have had modern day Superman movies thus far, innit? LOL
